Emilia Rhodes, HarperCollins Children’s

I am looking for commercial-leaning YA and MG. I’m always looking for contemporary realistic, but I’m open to other worlds (although, the more grounded the better—high fantasy is not my area of expertise). I’d love to fill my list with books with a lot of heart, whether that is through real and relatable characters, tragedy, or heartache. I’m a sucker for a sad story, so bonus points if you can make me cry. I’d love a dark and twisty MG (think Tim Burton-style). And a YA that explores living with depression, bi-polar, or other mental illnesses. At any age-range, I love narratives with a unique structural component and endings that surprise me. I’d love something that feels as real as Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl, something as instantly classic  as Stephen Chbosky’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower, or something as fun and character-driven as Louise Fitzhugh’s Harriet the Spy.
