I am looking for intelligent, well-written nonfiction—such as memoir and more journalistic nonfiction—as well as women’s fiction that suits Berkley’s more commercially oriented list without sacrificing on craft and on unique characters whose stories are organic and compelling. Stories with strong female voices are close to my heart, but I am also a fan of fully formed male characters that are not just love interests or grandfatherly figures. Novels I wish that I had edited include The Girls Guide to Hunting and Fishing and The Time Traveler’s Wife, and nonfiction books I wish I had edited include Orange is the New Black and Smoke Gets in Your Eyes. I am also open to the right genre fiction, especially erotic romance and cozy mysteries.
